How Do I Setup my Security?

How Do I Set up Security?

Security is important.  The ECS system allows different users to do different things all based on their level of security.  You set it up, and only you have the control to change it (unless you allows someone else).

1.

Go into the E-Commerce Station.

2.  Go to Utility.

3.  Choose Operational Control Record.

4.   Click on the Security tab.

5.   You will see the options to change security for Equipment, Orders, Venues, Communication Station (CommStat), Phonebook, View Credit Cards, Post Money, Make Key Changes.

Within these modules you can View everything, view R/A, Update, or Report.

6.   The permission levels are:
0 = Full Permission: Can do everything in the system, view any module, view all r/a activity, update any module, and print any report, look at credit card information.  This is usually reserved for the administrator, manager, or those running the business.
1 = Limited permission: This level can do almost everything, but they can't assign users or their levels.  You can restrict their activity as much as you want. Can add information, but not delete information.
2 = Limited Permission: This level is restricted from viewing monetary information such as credit cards and reports.  Can not delete information.
3 = Very limited Permission: This level only allows the user to see information.  They can not add, can not delete, can not print.  They can not see monetary information.

7.   To set this up in Security you need to decide what level can do what.

Ex:

If you want only the person with a user level of 0 then you need to set the security level to 0.  This means those with a user level of 1, 2, or 3 will not be able to do the activity.

If you want only those with a 0 or 1 to be able to do something then you need to set the security code to a 1.  That means those with a user level of 2 or 3 would not be able to do that activity.

8.   Example: Updating Product, if only those with a 0 or a 1 can add or update a product, such as change the price, change the keywords, set it to be published to the web, then you need to set the level to 1.  This means users you set up with a 2 or 3 will not be able to do any of the above.

9.  You can set up each module and activity for the security level.  Then when you assign users for the program you give them the security level that you want them to have.
